Loneliness Is Hitting Hard - And You’re Not Alone in Feeling It Everywhere

Let’s be real, feeling lonely sucks. It’s not just a passing emotion; it seeps into everything, making stress, sadness, and anxiety feel way worse. And according to a recent global study by Gallup, more than 1 in 5 people worldwide (23%) say they feel lonely a lot during the day.
That’s a massive number.
Loneliness Doesn’t Just Exist, It Multiplies Other Negative Feelings
If you’ve ever had one of those days where loneliness feels extra heavy, you probably noticed that everything else seems to hit harder too.
Gallup’s research backs this up:
People who feel lonely are 36% more likely to feel sad.
They’re 31% more likely to feel worried and 30% more likely to feel stressed.
Even feelings like anger and physical pain show up more when loneliness is in the mix.
It’s not just an emotional issue, it can take a toll on mental and physical health in ways we don’t always see.
Loneliness is Everywhere (But Some Places Feel It More)

The study found that loneliness exists all over the world, but it hits harder in some places. In Comoros, nearly 45% of people report feeling lonely a lot, while in Vietnam, that number is just 6%.
And while loneliness isn’t necessarily tied to specific age groups globally, in some countries, younger adults (including those in the U.S.) report feeling lonelier than older generations. China, for example, showed a huge gap, young adults (15-29) were 14% more likely to feel lonely than older people.
But there’s one clear trend worldwide: Struggling financially makes loneliness worse. People who find it hard to make ends meet are twice as likely to feel lonely compared to those who are financially stable.
Why This Matters More Than Ever
Loneliness isn’t just about feeling alone, it’s something that can affect everywhere, every part of your life. And with more people feeling disconnected, it’s not just a personal issue anymore, it’s becoming a global one.
At Socialode, we get it. That’s why we’re building a platform that makes real, meaningful connections possible, without the pressure of social media’s toxic status games. Because no one should have to go through life feeling like they’re the only one.
Let’s change the way we connect. Because real friendships shouldn’t be this hard to find.
You Just Need To Be You.
Cheers,
The Socialode Team
